Silicon Curve (“Silicon Curve,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is an online data journalism publication producing quantitative analysis of emerging technologies. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your personal information when you visit our website, subscribe to our newsletter, create an account, or purchase a subscription or report (collectively, the “Services”).

This Privacy Policy is intended to describe our privacy practices and reflects applicable privacy laws where they apply to our Services.

2. Who We Are (Data Controller)

We are based in the United States (Arizona). If you access our Services from outside the U.S., please be aware that your information may be transferred to, stored in, and processed in the United States. See Section 9 (International Data Transfers).

3. Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of personal information:

3.1 Information You Provide Directly

  • Newsletter signup email address – when you subscribe to our email newsletter.
  • Account email address – when you register for an account.
  • First and last name – provided at signup, registration, or checkout.
  • Company name – provided at signup, registration, or checkout.
  • Communications – the content of any messages you send us (e.g., support requests, feedback).

3.2 Payment Information

We use Stripe, Inc. (“Stripe”) as our third-party payment processor. When you purchase a subscription or individual report, your payment card details are collected and processed directly by Stripe. Silicon Curve does not collect, receive, or store your full payment card number, CVV, or other sensitive cardholder data.

We may receive limited transaction-related information from Stripe, such as your name, billing email, the last four digits of your card, card brand, transaction amount, and payment status, for the purposes of order fulfillment, receipts, accounting, and fraud prevention.

Stripe processes your payment data under its own privacy policy. We encourage you to review it at https://stripe.com/privacy.

3.3 Information Collected Automatically

When you visit our website, we and our analytics provider automatically collect certain information through cookies and similar technologies, including:

  • IP address (which may be truncated/anonymized by our analytics provider);
  • Device and browser type, operating system, and settings;
  • Pages viewed, links clicked, referring/exit pages, and time spent;
  • Approximate geographic location (derived from IP address);
  • Date and time of access.
  • When you create an account or agree to updated terms at a later date, we make a one-time record of the date, time, and IP address of your acceptance of these terms as evidence of consent.

We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) for website analytics. See Section 7 (Cookies and Tracking Technologies) for details and your choices.

We do not sell your personal information. We share personal information only with the third-party service providers listed below, who process it on our behalf and are bound to use it only to provide services to us:

We do not disclose your personal information to third parties for their own independent marketing purposes.

7. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies to operate the site, remember preferences, and understand how visitors use our Services.

  • Essential cookies — required for the site to function (e.g., login sessions, security). These do not require consent.
  • Analytics cookies — set by Google Analytics 4 to measure and improve site performance. These are non-essential.

9. International Data Transfers

Silicon Curve is based in the United States. If you are located outside the U.S., your personal data will be transferred to and processed in the U.S., which may not offer the same level of data protection as your jurisdiction.

Where we transfer personal data from the EEA or UK to the U.S. or other third countries, we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) and the UK International Data Transfer Addendum, or another lawful transfer mechanism.

10. Data Retention

We retain personal information only as long as necessary for the purposes described in this policy, including:

  • Newsletter data — until you unsubscribe or request deletion.
  • Account data — for the duration of your account, and up to 12 months after account closure unless a longer retention period is required by law or necessary for legitimate business purposes.
  • Transaction records — as required for tax, accounting, and legal purposes (typically up to 7 years).
  • Analytics data — in accordance with our analytics provider’s retention settings (typically 14 months).

When data is no longer needed, we delete or anonymize it.

11. Your California Privacy Rights (CCPA / CPRA)

If you are a California resident, you have the following rights:

  • Right to know — the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected, the sources, the purposes, and the categories of third parties with whom we share it.
  • Right to delete — request deletion of personal information we collected, subject to legal exceptions.
  • Right to correct — request correction of inaccurate personal information.
  • Right to opt out of “sale” or “sharing” — as those terms are defined under the CPRA.
  • Right to non-discrimination — we will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

Categories of personal information collected in the past 12 months: identifiers (name, email), commercial information (purchase history), internet/network activity (analytics data), and professional information (company name).

“Sale” and “Sharing”: Silicon Curve does not sell your personal information, and we do not use advertising pixels or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. We use Google Analytics solely as a first-party analytics tool to measure and improve our Services.

To exercise your California rights, contact us at privacy@siliconcurve.com. You may designate an authorized agent to make requests on your behalf. We will verify your identity before fulfilling a request.

12. Account Deletion

If you wish to delete your account, you may contact us at privacy@siliconcurve.com. Subject to our legal obligations, we will delete or anonymize your personal information within a reasonable period. Certain information may be retained as required for accounting, tax, fraud prevention, or legal compliance.

13. Email Communications

You may unsubscribe from promotional emails at any time using the unsubscribe link in any such email. You will continue to receive transactional emails necessary to administer your account or purchases (for example, receipts, security notices, and service updates).

14. Children’s Privacy

Our Services are intended for a professional, business audience and are not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
